Kate Middleton is having her famous engagement ring shrunk to fit her finger.
The bride-to-be has asked Royal jewellers to fit two beads inside the £32million sapphire band – once worn by Princess Diana – to stop it slipping.
Kate, 29, displayed the ring on slender hands on Monday during her last official outing before she weds Prince William.
Willowy Kate is having the ring made smaller because she is terrified it will fall off as she marries William.
Kate, who seems to be slimming for her big day, has reluctantly accepted the dazzling sapphire and diamond band is too big for her size H finger.
And she has asked Crown jewellers G Collins and Sons to attach two tiny platinum beads, dubbed “speed bumps,” to the inside of the bottom of the ring.
That will make it a size I, one notch up from Kate’s finger width to ensure it remains comfortable.
A Royal source said: “The band was turning. Kate absolutely adores it and didn’t want to cause a fuss.
“A bride’s worst nightmare is looking down and seeing her ring has fallen off. One can only imagine how this is magnified when you are marrying the future King of England.”
The band, valued at £32million because of its history, was Princess Diana’s engagement ring.
It was given to Kate by Wills, 28, to ensure his mother would be part of their special occasion on April 29.
Diana wore it on the same finger as her wedding ring when she married Prince Charles.
Kate was yesterday hailed as a bigger fashion icon than Cheryl Cole or Lady GaGa in a poll of 2,000 women across the UK.
The salute follows her stylish public appearance in Lancashire on Monday.
Sales of “high-gloss” shampoos and hair lotions have leaped by 27 per cent in the past month as girls rush to copy her shimmering look.
Meanwhile rumor has it that Kate is losing weight, she is marrying the future King of England and with the entire world watching her every move, how can blame her
